Club Meeting July 9, 2016

July 9th Sylva Photo Club Meeting

Meeting Like Minded People to promote photography knowledge, friendship and photographic opportunities.

July’s program will be “Tuning up your camera’s focus with a micro-focus adjustment” workshop combined with camera gear reviews by our own members!

What is micro-focus adjustment?  This happens when your focus on your subject’s eyes or any other specific area but when you take the photo and then examine it in magnified mode, it is not as sharp as you like but another area appears really sharp instead.  If this has happened to you, you need to come learn how to help your camera correct this “micro focus” error.  Bring your camera’s user’s manual as each camera’s procedure for micro-focus adjustment is different!  Same cameras may not have this feature at all.

Last month, we talked about how each of us have accumulated camera accessories that have become our favorites and others that were not as useful as we had hoped.  Please bring your accessories to share your reviews with us.

Photo Sharing for July will be for members to bring up to 6 photos, in any mix, from: a) June 18th field trip, b) sunset-moonrise from Waterrock Knob tonight, June 20th, or c) Fourth of July related photos.  If you wish, you may bring a series of transformational images you would like to share on the steps you made from straight out-of- the-camera to the finish product.

Remember, August 13th program will be by Lori Kincaid who specializes in outdoor photography.  Mark your calendars as you don’t want to miss this one!  For more info:  http://kincaidphoto.com/index.html

Our free beginners/novice photo class on the last Tuesday of each month has progressed beyond the beginners scope.  From now one, novice and advanced members are welcome to join our classes from 5-7 pm.  However for June and July, these classes will be held on the last Wednesday of the month,  June 29 and July 27.

As always, the Sylva Photo Club meets at the Cullowhee Methodist Church, 416 Central Drive on the Western Carolina University campus from 2-4 PM on the second Saturday of each month.

Please contact me if you have any questions, concerns or comments.
